Beyond Binaries: Gender at Work Training

Beyond Binaries: Gender at Work was a two-day training workshop organized by GIZ India in New Delhi on 29–30 April 2024, aimed at fostering deeper understanding and practice of gender equality and inclusion in the workplace. The workshop created a reflective and participatory space for participants to critically examine societal norms, explore gender identity and expression beyond the binary, and engage with the complexities of intersectionality and power. Through discussions on gender, sexuality, cultural sensitivity, and inclusive language, the workshop challenged ingrained assumptions and encouraged participants to unlearn biases while embracing diversity.

Key frameworks such as the iceberg model and analytical tools were introduced to help participants recognize the visible and hidden dimensions of inequality within organizational cultures. The second day focused on personal reflection, power and privilege analysis, and collaborative action planning to embed gender-responsive strategies in institutional practices. The workshop concluded with a strong emphasis on the importance of ongoing dialogue, inclusive policy-making, and collective responsibility in building equitable workplaces.

This training marked a meaningful step in fostering a gender-responsive and inclusive workplace culture, encouraging participants to unlearn biases and actively build systems of equity and respect.
