A Network of Non-Governmental Organisations
GenderSphere conducted an external evaluation for a project focused on strengthening the rights, agency, and leadership of women migrant workers (WMWs) across Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
Using a Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR) approach, the project aimed to center the lived experiences of women migrant workers by enabling them to document their realities, build collectives, and influence migration governance structures. It supported local organizations and leaders through participatory research, capacity-building workshops, cross-country exchanges, and policy dialogues.
The initiative fostered inclusive platforms where women migrant workers could share their stories, raise demands, and engage with stakeholders across multiple levels. GenderSphere led the final external evaluation, using feminist, participatory, and utilisation-focused methods to assess the project’s effectiveness and long-term impact on gender and migration justice. It assessed how feminist participatory action research (FPAR), capacity-building, and collective organising led by women migrant workers contributed to systemic change. The evaluation process included field visits, participatory workshops, stakeholder interviews, and feminist analysis to capture the project’s impact and lessons for future programming.
