A network locally-led, globally-connected organisations working on transforming health
India | 2018
In 2016, with technical facilitation by GenderSphere, a undertook its first Gender Self-Assessment to evaluate and strengthen its commitment to gender equality across its systems, policies, programs, and organizational culture. Covering the period from 2013 to 2016, the assessment aimed to identify challenges and opportunities for gender mainstreaming, and to catalyze institutional transformation.
The assessment served multiple purposes — from establishing a baseline of gender awareness to promoting staff reflection and building organizational capacity for sustained change. Key areas explored included HR practices, organizational culture, communications, partnerships, and advocacy.
As the first such audit within the global network, this initiative not only informed the organization’s internal action planning but also laid the groundwork for broader organizational learning. The findings are being used to guide strategic planning, strengthen inclusion in recruitment and performance processes, and reinforce the organization’s long-term commitment to gender equality.
