The research presents a national overview of the ecosystem of domestic worker mobilizations, highlighting key actors, issues, strategies, collaborations, and both the strengths and challenges facing the movement. It includes an in-depth review of national networks and organizations, as well as mobilizations in eight key states: Assam, Delhi, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana.
The purpose of the study was to inform GFW’s movement-led strategy for supporting domestic workers’ organizing over a three-year period, while deepening understanding of the varied and dynamic landscape of domestic worker mobilization across India.
