Global March Against Child Labour
India | 2018
GenderSphere conducted a dynamic four-day regional workshop focused on strengthening capacities to address child labour and trafficking through a gender-transformative lens. The workshop brought together practitioners and stakeholders from across South Asia to deepen their understanding of gender, power, and policy frameworks relevant to child rights.
Through participatory sessions, expert insights, and hands-on group work, participants explored the links between gender norms, power dynamics, and systemic discrimination in child labour contexts. The workshop emphasised the importance of integrating a gender perspective into child rights work, using tools like the Gender at Work Analytical Framework to help participants map out both personal and institutional pathways for change.
Key themes included gender concepts and socialisation, international legal frameworks, gender roles and stereotypes, manifestations of patriarchy, and gender mainstreaming in organisational mandates. The workshop concluded with concrete action planning, enabling participants to apply their learning within their specific roles and institutions to drive systemic impact.
